Under the direct supervision of a Construction Supervisor/Assistant Construction Chief/Construction Chief, the Multi-Discipline Inspector will be responsible for the performing technical inspections of construction work pursuant to applications filed with the Department of Buildings.
These applications involve the erection, alteration, and repair of structures throughout the city. The inspector is to determine if construction work is being done safely and in conformance with approved applications, plans, and specifications in accordance with the NYC Building Code, Zoning Resolution, or other related building laws enforced by the Department of Buildings. Perform technical inspections in response to complaints received by the Department of Buildings alleging that existing buildings are in violation of provisions of the NYC Building Code, Zoning Resolution, or other related building laws enforced by the Department of Buildings.
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and five years of full-time satisfactory experience working at a construction trade as an architect, engineer, electrician, plumber, carpenter, mason, plasterer, ironworker, building construction superintendent or inspector of building construction.
A licensed professional engineer license would be preferred.
